ImperiaPost sbarca negli Stati Uniti in occasione dei festeggiamenti per i 375 anni della città di Newport per cercare di approfondire la conoscenza della nostra città gemella. In questi giorni cercheremo di farci un’idea insieme a Voi lettori dei tanti aspetti che compongono questa comunità.
Si è tanto discusso ultimamente sull’utilità dei gemellaggi. ImperiaPost cercherà di raccontarvi degli spaccati di realtà di Newport perché lo scambio deve essere prima di tutto tra culture, usanze e tradizioni.
Durante il nostro viaggio seguiremo anche il musicista imperiese Diego Campagna che suonerà il 21 e il 22 giugno alla “Redwood Library” e al “Newport Casino Theatre” in occasione dei festeggiamenti
“Diego omaggerà la nostra città gemella con due concerti. Io ho fatto da tramite, durante il mio viaggio a Newport, e lui ha dato la sua disponibilità, per cui lo ringraziamo. Diego Campagna è un chitarrista molto bravo e conosciuto in tutto il mondo” aveva dichiarato il Sindaco Carlo Capacci a marzo durante la conferenza stampa di presentazione del Tour Americano del musicista imperiese.
Durante la sua prima mattinata a Newport Diego Campagna ha visitato l’Istituto scolastico “Thompson Middle School” dando lezioni introduttive di chitarra classica agli studenti, con piccole dimostrazioni ed esecuzioni, rispondendo alle tante domande degli bambini.
Con timidezza il giovane pubblico si è fatto coraggio e ha posto domande di ogni genere .
Eccone alcune: “Come riesci a suonare pezzi così difficili ? ” Perché hai iniziato a suonare la chitarra?”, “Chi sono i tuoi riferimenti musicali del passato e del presente?”, “Quale è il tuo piatto preferito?”, “Viaggi molto?”, “Ti piacciono gli Stati Uniti?”, “Suoni musica classica, cosa ascolti nella vita privata?”, ” Quante ore ti alleni?”, ” Cosa ti piace fare oltre suonare?”, ” Cosa chiami casa?”, “ Cosa ti ha ispirato a suonare?”, “Perché hai scelto la chitarra classica?”,” Suoni sempre da seduto? Quale è il posto dove preferisci suonare? Quali sono le differenze tra la chitarra elettrica e quella classica ? Mixi i prezzi? Quale è il pezzo più difficile ? “.
Brenda Bachman, Membro della Commissione Gemellaggi di Newport ha colto l’occasione per spiegare ai giovani cittadini i programi di gemellaggio tra città, i risvolti per la città e le possibilita’ aperte per gli studenti di vincere borse di studio per visitare le citta’ gemelle.
Gli studenti della Scuola pubblica “Thompson Middlesbrough School” e gli insegnanti Mr. Chilton, Ms Lepree e Ms Shinego hanno accolto la lezione di Diego Campagna con grande entusiasmo e sono stati totalmente rapiti dalle performance live inattese del musicista che ha chiuso l’incontro suonando un Tango.
